Amy's Treat is pleased to announce a special acknowledgement by the Boston Celtics' “Heroes Among Us” program.
In December, 2008 Amy's daughter and Amy's Treat Executive Director, Rachel Shafman stood center court with the Boston Celtics to receive the Heroes Among Us award.
Three twenty minute periods of Bruin's hockey is great fun for any hockey fan, but to a person living with a terminal illness, it is a real TREAT to get to a game. To escape the realities of life for a single hour, to just cheer on your team is priceless. It was a special night for Lori, but this game was different. She did not watch the game with her usual intensity, instead she watched her kids who were totally into the game. I think her joy of that night was her spending an evening out with her children. We really don't remember much about the game or even the final score, but my daughter still has the foam finger that her mom bought for her at the game hanging on her wall. My son doesn't wear the Bruin's hat that his mom bought for him. Instead he keeps it proudly displayed on his bureau—where nothing can happen to it—in remembrance of that special night. I will never forget that night watching my lovely Lori smiling as she proudly watched her children having a great night at the Bruin's game.
Thank you AMY'S TREAT
