April 2010 brought us our 4th annual Amy in Bloom Auction Fundraiser.
"The Nurse excused herself. A few moments later, she returned, with Amy’s Treat Gift Certificates in hand. She said, “Here, I want you and your family to have the Christmas you deserve..... My Mom was overcome with emotion….."
"We received a gift certificate for dinner; a fancy dinner in Kennebunk. Just in time to celebrate Mom’s birthday. We needed to get dressed up. We piled into Mom’s Subaru and drove down from Portland together, we gathered around a candlelit table, ate well, drank wine, passed around pictures, laughed. For a moment we were free, our problems melted away. Our spirits were renewed."

Mark your calendars for 3 P.M. on Sunday, April 15, 2012 to come out in support of our annual Amy in Bloom Auction Fundraiser being held at Portsmouth Harbor Events and Conference Center. “BLOOM 5” promises to be another great one with a room full of extraordinary items to bid upon all to benefit Amy’s Treat programs which delivers much needed services, goods and special outings to cancer patients. Check back for updates on auction items that will include a custom made kayak by New Wave Boat Company, dinner for six prepared in your home by Chef Phelps Dieck of Brazo fame, a stay on Nantucket and getaways to some of Boston’s finest hotels, resorts on the Cape and in Kennebunk and much, much more. During Robin Drown’s stay at SCC, she would be chosen as a recipient of an Amy’s Treat and in true Robin fashion; she usually asked that her treat be passed on to another as she was always more concerned with those who occupied the other infusion cubicles. Following her passing in 2010, Robin’s loved ones decided to honor her legacy of caring by putting together multiple gift baskets “Remembering Robin” full of her favorite things to be distributed among patients during the holiday season. Rachel O’Neill accepts a fist full of gift cards from Olivia Griffin at our 4th annual Flatbread Benefit Night held on December 6th. The gifting of gift cards has become an annual tradition from our friends and supporters at Watson Fields Assisted Living Facility in Dover, NH and will brighten many a spirit this holiday season.
Amy’s Treat wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Flatbread, Olivia (who lost a tooth that day, but still managed a big smile), Wendy, John and the staff at Watson Fields and all those who came out to enjoy great pizza for a good cause. Kudos to our donors who provided the items for our raffle: Audio Barn in Stratham, Lindt Chocolate, Barbara and Jim Civiello, Donald Verger and Cain Food.
On Thursday, December 2nd, sixteen year old Bryce Aldrich was the force behind a hockey scrimmage fundraiser between the high schools of Somersworth and Noble that raised more than $1,600.00 for Amy’s Treat.
After learning that the mother of his friend Nick was facing her second bout with cancer, Bryce decided to show his support by raising money to assist her and others living with cancer.
Bryce credits Vicki Hudson as his inspiration and he was helped along the way by his “team” of Chris Roseberry, Jeff and Tammy Aldrich (his parents), the Noble-Wells and Somersworth hockey boosters, the players, his girlfriend Kathryn and a number of good friends.
Bryce said, “The best part of the evening is knowing that the people in there were helping support the cause”. On behalf of everyone at Amy’s Treat and all those who’ll benefit from this fundraiser, we applaud Bryce and all those who helped to make this night possible.

Many thanks to the good folks at the Epping American Legion for hosting Amy's Treat on May 1st with a Spaghetti Feast fundraiser. We are grateful to Al for his delicious red sauce and for preparing the meal and to Deb Nadeau who offered upwonderful individual cheesecakes and brownies. None of it would have been possible without Jen McGlone and Caren Peloso for their work in bringing the dinner to fruition. Additionally, Amy's Treat offers a warm thank you to Bill V. who kindly donated back his share of a 50/50 raffle.
Caren Peloso (rear-center) celebrates with members of the Seacoast Cancer Center and Amy's Treat at The Dover NH Women of the Moose benefit breakfast held on January 23rd.
In spite of the bone chilling cold of that morning, the room filled up with hearty and hungry supporters who enjoyed the great food put out by the Women of the Moose.

Kelsie Musumeci and Meghan McDermott are seniors who attend Winnacunnet High School in Hampton, New Hampshire. They reached out to Amy's Treat after selecting Breast Cancer as their topic of discussion in Senior Seminar, a class based on presenting useful information to teach other students or to have an impact on the community.
Kelsie writes: “For our project we would like to give back to the community by revolving our project around breast cancer. Currently, Meghan and I are on a roll with the sewing projects of the pillows and head wraps. We have also spent our morning making the pink ribbon chocolate lollipops in which we are selling at our school this upcoming week during lunches. We are also presenting a donation box on the table we are selling the lollipops at. It looks like the pillows and head wraps will be finished in a couple weeks.”
“We chose to do breast cancer for our senior seminar project at Winnacunnet High School because October is breast cancer awareness month, and we felt that we could inform people on what breast cancer is, and how it can be. We also chose to raise money for breast cancer, because personally we know people who have had breast cancer and it is not a fun thing, so we realized that we could help give back and we chose to donate to Amy's Treat because Cindy Cummings who is the fashion and fabrics teacher at Winnacunnet High School, told us about this foundation, and we did research on the foundation and realized that it is a great foundation that we would love to donate anything we can to the foundation.”
Kelsie and Meghan - Winnnacunnet High School presented Amy's Treat—and in turn the patients of the Seacoast Cancer Center—baskets full of hats, pillows and scarves as well as $212.00 through their sales of breast cancer support chocolate lollipops!
The Tuesday night benefit at Flatbread was a dough raising success. In spite of the bone chilling cold, a number of supporters came out to take advantage of great pizza for a great cause. Thank you to all those who participated as well as to our good friends at Flatbread and to all those who provided our hotly sought after raffle items: Cains Foods, Pat Donohoe at Audio Barn in Exeter, Donald Verger, Wendy Switzer, Lindt Chocolate and Joanne McDonough from Joya Beauty. DreamBig!
Amy's Treat Executive Director Rachel O'Neill enjoys a quiet moment on a very busy night at Flatbread!
Thank you to all of those who participated in Amy in Bloom 3 and made it such a wonderful success. With your help, we continue to brighten the days and lives of cancer patients and their families in this difficult journey.
A special thanks to Laragh and Ryan Kavanaugh for their touching words in memory of their Mother.
