Joe and MK at John Lester's no-hitter - a memorable night compliments of Amy's Treat
In 2007, my treatment was failing me and my morale was not at its peak. In December of that year, I picked up my mail and among it was an envelope from an organization that was new to me - Amy's Treat. I opened it and to my surprise inside was a gift certificate to a restaurant in Portsmouth - The Black Trumpet. I cried, I smiled, and I cried some more and then I decided I wanted to know more about this group who cared about putting a smile on the face of a cancer patient. I inquired at the hospital about them, learned that they were looking to have an active patient's perspective as part of their organizational makeup and so I became an active board member in March 2008.

Jenness Farm donates goats milk soaps and lotions to the patients of the Seacoast Cancer Center -
Lenore is holding a newbie which the farm has named “Lenore.”
It is such a pleasure and so rewarding to work with Amy's Treat. We have good laughs, and in addition to the usual fundraising work, I am charged with two very important tasks: the first is to be “stubborn as an old grass stain” when it comes to going into the community to ask for the things we need to keep this dream afloat, and the other is to watch over Lenore, to keep her from dropping yet another cell phone into a puddle of water!
